If u have to eat something come here. It's super generic. I had a Mediterranean salad and it was...pretty sad. I mean u won't get sick but it's not great. If you're looking for a drink and sports bar hang it's pretty cool.

I came in last weekend to watch the Australia Ghana soccer match at 9 a.m. Sweetwater, the hotel bar at the Kelly Inn, just outside of Downtown St. Paul is one of the most reliable places to watch a soccer match. It always has the game on. Kind of a bizarre spot, not really the type of place you'd expect to be a soccer bar, but I think the owner is a fan. He looked like he was from Italy or Spain. The hotel is kind of dumpy, but there is ample parking and the bar is decent looking. There is a 2 for 1 special that I don't really understand. I asked the waitress if they had any specials, she said no. I asked for a Guinness, and she brought me 2, and charged me $6. My friend got the same deal on Blue Moon. Anyways, the buffet is not free. They had a 1 table breakfast buffet and no signage around in in the bar. It looked to me to be a complimentary breakfast buffet, but it is not. I grabbed a few pieces of fruit and was accosted by the waitress. She didn't charge me for the fruit, but for future reference, you must pay for the buffet.

So, staying at the hotel.... its raining out, so time to check out the hotel restaurant. Ya know, when I came in I just wanted dinned. Thats what I got. Ordered a side ceaser for an appetizer. Wierd to say the least. Bland dressing and chopped tomatos on a Cesar??? Wasnt even Romaine lettuce. Had the flat iron steak. Ordered it Med, came out closer to rare/med rare...thats ok by me, others might order it a little more well done. The thing that made me go to 3 stars, is they charge you for chocolate sauce on your ice cream.... are ya kidding??? couple drinks, they were strong and tasty! Service was quick and friendly. They flipped a huge tv to hockey right when I asked. Overall, its a hotel restaurant, and i will leave full and happy.

I was walking with my friends who live downtown, and we sort of just ended up here to eat--I'm not sure what thought process went into it. The place is basically a copy of Applebee's, from the décor to the menu. Almost everything on the menu is between $6 and $12, and it's pretty boring and traditional American fare (burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc.). Unfortunately, our experience here was poor due to circumstances largely beyond ours or this restaurant's control. There was a wedding reception going on, which had to be in a party room adjacent to this restaurant because there was thunderous (but muffled) music and bass that made the atmosphere for dining inside completely obnoxious. Since it was such a beautiful evening outside, we resolved to relocate to their patio. But the server said she couldn't serve outside (something about the fact there was smoking permitted). So I asked to cancel our food order, and she went quickly into the kitchen to do so, but came back and said the food was already on the grill. But she relented to serve us on the patio as the booming of the ambient noise would have forced us to walk out anyway, abandon our order, and payment for it. My buddy just got a burger which he said was decent, and his wife got a veggie burger which she really enjoyed. Her burger was probably the highlight--she said it's one of the better veggie burgers she's had eating out. Unfortunately my salad was not good at all. I ordered a Caesar and it was absolutely drenched with Caesar dressing. It was seriously gross because of that, but I felt pretty defeated to send it back or do anything about it so I just didn't eat. So we had a 2-for-1 coupon, and there was my salad. The bill got paid along with a 30% tip for the special accommodation of serving us outside. On the way back we stopped at the new Lunds Penfield to get something from the deli for my dinner. So yeah, I wish we had bailed out of there and gone somewhere else before it was too late.
